GIVE TO GOD

In this new topic, we will talk about:

-Why do we have to give to God? (And the impact of giving in our lives)

-How to give according to the Bible

-Where to give and when?

-What should we give to God?

-The types of giving in the Bible where we will teach about offerings, donations, alms and tithing.

A) Why do We have to Give to God ??? ( The Impact of Giving in Our lives )

1. Giving to God is a sign of consideration towards our God:

It is a way of making our God feel that he is the priority in our life.

Bible Verse: (MATTHEW 6:33)

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

NB: Giving also means honouring God with one's goods and income.

Bible Verse: Proverbs 3:9

Honor the Lord with your goods and with the firstfruits of all your income:

2. Giving to God is a way to show our gratitude for what God has done in our lives. Gratitude inspires people to do more in our lives the same way gratitude inspires God to do more because He sees that we are grateful to Him. Ingratitude produces selfishness and engenders idolatry.

Bible Verse: Romans 1:21

Because, when they knew God, they did not glorify him as God, nor were they grateful to him; but they have become vain in their imaginations, and their foolish hearts are darkened.

Bible verse: 2 Corinthians 8:9

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, although rich, became poor because of you, so that you might become rich through his poverty.

3. Give to God is to contribute to the progress of the work of God,

God's work needs our funding, he is the one who shares the little he has helped the church accomplish the mission and God will remember him.

Bible Verse: Colossians 3:23-24

Whatever you do, do it with a good heart, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that you will receive from the Lord the inheritance as a reward. You serve the Lord Christ.

4. Giving to God means sowing in good soil to reap tomorrow. The Bible speaks of the law of sowing and reaping. If you don't sow, you won't get tomorrow. This is why, in each living being, God has placed the seed to ensure the continuity of the productivity of living beings on earth.

Which means that in every blessing we receive from God, there is a seed that must return to God. It is written what a man sows, he will reap.

Bible Verse: 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

Remember this: he who sows little will reap little, and he who sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, without reluctance or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

5. Giving to God is saving in the bank of heaven. The best way to save in our life is to know how to give to God. When we need it, he will give it to us.

Bible Verse: Matthew 6:19

Lay up no treasures on the earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves creep in and steal; 20 But lay up treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in or steal.

Bible Verse: Luke 12:33-34

Sell what you have and give it away. Make yourself purses that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in the heavens, where the thief does not approach, and where the moth does not destroy. 34For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

6. Giving to God is proof of our faithfulness to God. It is written that if you are faithful in small things, God will entrust you with great Goods.

Bible Verse: Luke 16:10-11

He who is faithful in small things is also faithful in large things, and he who is unjust in small things is also in large things. 11If, then, you have not been faithful in unjust riches, who will entrust the true to you?

Bible Verse:Matthew 25:21

His master said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful in a few things, I will entrust you with much; enter into the joy of your master.

7. Giving to God is a way of giving thanks to God or thanking him for what he has done in our life.

Bible Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:18

“In everything give thanks, for it is God's will for you in Christ Jesus”

8. Giving to God is a sign of love towards our God. Love is always shown by giving, it is written because God once loved the world which he gave to his only son.

Bible Verse: John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

NB: Giving is not always a sign of love But he who loves must give.

9. Giving to God is the best way to get God to do more in our lives. The more you give, the more divine grace will manifest in your life.

Bible Verse: 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

Remember this: he who sows little will reap little, and he who sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, without reluctance or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

NB: Giving is also bringing God's favor and blessing to your business and home.

Bible Verse: Deuteronomy 28:12

The LORD will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to send rain on your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hands; thou shalt lend to many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

10. Giving to God is a way to activate divine favor in our lives. When you give, you activate a new grace in your life. A closed door can be opened simply by giving.

Bible Verse: Philippians 4:6-8

Don't worry about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

11. Giving to God allows God to remember us in difficult times. In difficult times you needed God to remember you, to make that possible you had to make sure your name was written in the book of remembrance. And when you give, you put your name in the book of remembrance and God will remember you in difficult times.

NB: Dorcas resurrected in the Bible grace to her donation.

Here is the story of his resurrection in the Bible:

Bible Verse: Actes 9:36-42

36There was in Joppa, among the disciples, a woman named Tabitha, which means Dorcas: she did many good works and gave alms. 37She fell ill at that time, and died. After having washed it, it is deposited in an upper room. 38Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, when they heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him, asking him to come to them without delay. 39Peter got up and went with these men. When he arrived, he was taken to the upper room. All the widows surrounded her weeping, and showed her the tunics and garments that Dorcas made while she was with them. 40Peter called everyone out, knelt down, and prayed; then, turning to the body, he said: Tabitha, arise! She opened her eyes, and having seen Pierre, she sat down. 41He gave her his hand and levered it. He then calls the saints and widows, and presents her alive. 42 This became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.

12. To give to God is to seek to touch the heart of God. God loves offerings, it always touches his heart when we bring it into his presence.

13. Giving draws upon us God's grace and mercy in times of trial.

14. The practice of offerings is biblical. Sometimes it is also related to our salvation as God's people. In the Bible, certain offerings are associated with the salvation and deliverance of God's people.

NB: Biblically it is an offering that saved us at the cross of golgota.

Biblical example:

offerings for sin and guilt (Leviticus 4;5; 17:11). These offerings symbolized the sacrifice that would bear our sins to be cleansed (Isaiah 53.4,5,10-12). This sacrifice was accomplished in the person of Jesus Christ, whom God offered as a sacrifice in our place (Jn 3,16; Rom 3,25). Jesus paid the penalty for our sin.

15.Giving to God will bring God's protection and production into your life, home, work, and business.

Bible Verse: Malachie 3:11

For you I will threaten the devourer, And he shall not destroy the fruits of the earth for you, Nor shall the vine be barren in your fields, saith the LORD of host.

16.According to the Bible, to give to God means testing God, or put God to the trial.

Bible Verse: The Bible says:

Bring all the tithes into the treasury, That there may be food in my house; So put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts. And you will see if I do not open the floodgates of heaven for you, if I do not fill you with blessings in abundance.

NB: This scripture promises us when you give wholeheartedly without murmuring in faith. It will be impossible not to be blessed by God.

17.Giving to God means submitting yourself to the law of God. And God has always honored people who obey his laws.

Bible Verse: Leviticus 27:30

Every tithe of the earth, whether of the crops of the ground, or of the fruit of the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is a holy thing for the Lord.

18.By giving to God, you are helping the full-time workers in God's house to do well the work that God has called them to do. Finally that they do not leave the house of God to look for work outside the church.

Bible Verse: Deuteronomy 14:29

Then shall come the Levite, who has neither part nor inheritance with you, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, who shall be within your gates, and they shall eat and be satisfied, that the LORD your God may bless all. the work you undertake with your hands.

Bible Verse: 2 Chronicles 31:4-10

And he said to the people, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might faithfully observe the law of the LORD.
